I Write Like...

As we do some thinking about how what we read inspires or influences what we write, I thought it might be fun for you to check out a website I've seen that analyzes a bit of your own writing and tells you what published author your writing is similar to.

I tried it with one of my blog posts and evidently I write like Dan Brown. I know who that is, but I haven't read any of his books. Interesting.  I also found this interesting tidbit which confirmed my suspicions that there wasn't much heft to this particular tool, but hey...

Go to I Write Like and try it yourself.

Go to the ProProfs What Famous Writer Are You? quiz and try that one.

Leave a comment on this post telling us your results (and what you think of them) when you do.  You might have to look up the author for more information if you don't recognize the name.  The ProProfs quiz said I write like our very own Missouri native Mark Twain.  Hmmm...

  4. The first link told me that I write like Dan Brown, author of "The Da Vinci Code". The second link said that I write like Earnest Hemingway. It's really weird to have my own writing compared to two famous authors, but I haven't read anything written by either, so I'm not very sure if my results are accurate or not.

  6. Apparently I write like Kurt Vonnegut but am Mark Twain. I'm gonna critique society SO HARD. I do like the idea that I am like Mark Twain. As a Missourian, if I ever hear anyone coming after his legacy, I am legally obligated to find them and kill them.

  10. Apparently I write like Stephen King. According to the second link I write like Ernest Hemingway, but it wasn't the best quiz because I didn't have a very good answer for some of the questions.

  11. So I write like Margaret Atwood. So in other words I write like a Canadian poet... And Ernest Hemingway.. The paragraph thing said "Perhaps one of your peculiar hobbies is listening to people talk to each other." And I really do enjoy listening to other people's conversations in a not judgy and not creepy kind of way haah

  12. My I write like results were that I write like Charles Dickens. My results from the quiz say I write like Mark Twain. Personally, I never imagined myself being like either of those writers, but hey, if the internet tell me that I write like them, it has to be true right?!?!(-;

  19. Apparently I write like Ernest Hemingway. I'm a little confused by this considering I'm not overly familiar with his work, but the way the site explained why we're similar makes sense to me.
